Sangria

Everyone in my family loves wine except me. This recipe is how I like to drink wine. When I make a batch there are never any leftovers. I brought this to a party the other night, set it on the table, went to say hi to someone and when I came back the pitcher was empty!

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of wine (I usually get a two buck chuck)
  • 1 cup vodka
  • 1 cup triple sec
  • 1 1/2 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 1/2 cup lemonade
  • 2 cups of soda water
  • plus sliced fruit (orange, lime, strawberries and/or blueberries – or whatever fruit you want to add)

Directions

I usually prepare this ahead of time by adding all the liquids together except the soda water and I stick it in the freezer. There’s so much alcohol in the drink that it never freezes completely so you don’t have to worry about thawing it out before serving. When I am ready to serve I add the soda water and fruit. I know for most Sangria recipes you usually let the fruit soak overnight in the drink, but I personally don’t like how soggy the fruit gets, so I add it last minute. Enjoy with friends!

  1. ” When I make a batch there are never any leftovers.” that’s an understatement! You put it on the table and I had to push someone out of the way to get myself a glass. It helps to be physical when your recipes are around. I had the last glass before that poor soul knew what was coming. That’s right I’m going to hell but your sangria was worth it!

    • I’ve use white before and with the pomegranate juice it was still quite red, but just as delicious. If you want that clearer look maybe try some white cranberry juice instead of the pomegranate? I’ve been meaning to try out a white wine sangria recipe for awhile!
